Can someone sell me the SOM or DIMM module from a parted machine

I have a form 3 that bricked itself.
Form aren’t interested in helping with recovery and recommended i buy a new machine.

I would like to ask if anyone has an broken form 3 that they would sell the DIMM module from?
thanks

Hi Jared,

The SOM (System On a Module - or as you call them, DIMM) modules in Form 3 and Fuse printers contain the printer’s calibration information. This means that if you replace the module with one from another printer, you will also inherit the calibration of the other printer. In principle your machine will start up and start a print, but it will have a different serial name and incorrect calibration information, which can lead to failed and/or incorrect prints. Unfortunately, not all calibrations stored on the SOM can be updated via user calibration. This means that if you choose to replace the SOM, you should do so expecting some level of print issues with your print. How well the other printer’s calibration will match your hardware is impossible to say before you make the change and try it.

Thanks. I am aware. And if form wasn’t so unwilling to help they could use their database to provide me with the calibration data I need and perhaps even the part needed to make sure that a 10,000 investment wasn’t just a paperweight.

However as to this calibration situation, given that the lpu can just be replaced on any machine, I’m not really sure what things require calibration other than perhaps the resin tank opening valves which honestly are a minor issue.

@algenieiot The SOM runs the operating system in our printers. Some Form 3 printers are not eligible for a SOM replacement. Because these have to be programmed to the specific printer, the printer needs to be in North America for us to provide a replacement SOM.

That said, you can replace the LPU with either a new one or one from another printer. I suggest replacing the flex cable as well. You can purchase both on our webstore individually, but the LPU will come with a new flex cable.

I do not understand why you replied, all you did was confirm you could replace it, but your policy is only to do it if legally required, otherwise you refuse the right to repair.

I could ship this machine to north America, but you would refuse to repair it.
The fact that you dont offer any solutions and hide behind the calibration excuse is disappointing.

@JaredReabow I appreciate your patience while waiting to hear back from me. I reached out to the team that programs our SOMs to see if it was possible to get one to you. The answer is “yes.” We decided not to make it a standard replacement because shipping costs are relatively high, and we had some complaints about that in particular. However, those costs are lower than the cost of replacing the printer outright.

I also checked to make sure that your printer is eligible for a SOM replacement, which it is. I will reach out to you using the support case you had open with our agents, including the details, so we can get moving on this for you.

I understand the frustration, and I’m glad that we’ve had this discussion. I’ve learned something, too, since I’m in North America and this doesn’t affect me daily. I’ll be sending you an email through your support case shortly.
