I am currently working on digitally laying out equipment in our office space (a virtual floor plan / digital twin–style layout), and I was wondering whether there is an official or community-shared 3D model of Formlabs printers available.
I fully understand that sharing detailed CAD data containing internal structures or mechanical components could raise concerns around IP protection and information leakage. That said, for our use case, we are only interested in a basic exterior / envelope-level 3D model (for example, overall dimensions, outer housing, and rough geometry), purely for spatial planning and visualization purposes.
Even a simplified model (STEP, STL, or similar) representing only the external form factor would be sufficient. If there are any officially provided assets, recommended sources, or policies regarding this, I would really appreciate being pointed in the right direction.
Hi! Which printers are you looking for? I don’t believe we have a public repository but we have space planning models usually by request. Let me know and I can have someone reach out to you with them.
We went through this exercise when planning a small room we had available for SLA printing. We used the dimensions from the webpages and user manuals of the printer, wash and cure station to create basic blocks. I’d definitely love more discussion about printer space/room planning on this forum!
If you’re also doing SLA, don’t forget about storing cartridges, resin tanks and containers of saturated solvent solution. I’d rather not share our models as they might have some inaccuracies and we don’t have a model of the newest Cure. The power blocks of each device will take up some space as well. Easy access for throwing out tissues when cleaning the build plate/work space is useful!
@henryqiu I personally would be interested if you could share the space planning models of the SLS ecosystem!
