Your big print is really nice ! Could you tell me what happened to the right ear ?
Like I wrote the issue is during the layer peeling, the resin cured is sticking to the silicone ( at the bottom of the tray ) and when the surface is big when the tank rotate to peel it has an hard time to separate.
One support broke because it was really close to the border and close to right side where the tank go deeper.
bigger support would have maybe wiser and not using the grey setting since the laser beam is maybe stronger or do more pass.
Julien,
I also seen this difficulty that the printer has to peel some of the larger layers and the fact that in some case the suports get broken and the print fails.
I had better results when I pushed the pieces far away from the peel side (see second part of this article: http://wp.me/p3gI7M-8z).
The same exact support structure / material parameter was completly failing on one side of the platform, while it was working on the other.
It’s an extra stress put on the PDMS layer as now I will try to print my stuff always in this area…
Cheers
Hey guys – thanks for a ll the great work. Just a reminder, when you’re using a downloaded design to share your prints and experiences, make sure to include the attribution requested by the original artist of the design.
For example, when posting @Dzingof’s (or anyone’s) designs, please make sure to include something like: “Braided Torus - Math Art by @Dzingof”, with a link back to the source. That’ll keep everyone happy and contributing back to the community.
All my prints are 3d models I made myself.
It s been a while but I was busy working on a bust, had to cut in pieces, printed in small 1st ( got some failure on the front of the neck the print got separated in half so it was hard to glue back and maybe due to some warping between the piece it was hard to re align)
Then I tried multiple time to print it in big…got a lot failure of support for some reasons.
I managed to print it but still some support broke after 1cm and that didn’t print one of the horn…kind of sad about.
I printed in clear material in 25 microns and it took around 62 hours for the big version.
I need to print the other part glue them, mold it, cast in wax , retool all the support connection try to print the missing horn and merge it… most likely I am going to be busy for few weeks…
As for the amount of details in compare of the 3d and the print it s just that details need to be push deeper in 3d to show up on the print…I will try deeper next time.
Enjoy

That turned out amazing.
I love this creature design too. It would be interesting to see the side where the supports attached, in its unfinished state.
Super cool.
That creature bust is fantastic!
