Wash L recommendation to keep platform raised

The Wash L display tells me that keeping the platform raised at all times slows IPA evaporation rate.

Can somebody please explain this to me? Any explanation and ideas here are appreciated as this doesn’t make sense to me. In my mind it helps to put the lid back on a bottle of IPA to keep it from evaporating. I don’t understand how the closed lid is worse than the raised platform+ slit in the middle of the metal lid inside.

Thanks

The inner lid is more airtight so it does a better job at preventing evaporation. Lowering the platform requires opening the inner lid.

Ok. I attached an image that shows why I was so doubtful. Please have a look. I should talk to Formlabs about this because this doesn’t look correct at all, and its been this way since I started using it (I’ve only washed about 7 times)

That looks like it would evaporate rapidly. I’m already getting a lot of evaporation with the lid down. This looks worse to me.

Message is off to Formlabs support.

It was like this when I got it and when I look at the back both sides go up to a seal but on the front both sides hang below it, the right one by quite a bit.

I can pull up on them and they just flap down.

The construction overall on this device is quite odd. The tolerances in general seem off. I hope Formlabs has some ideas here because even with the lid fully closed I’m getting a lot of evaporation. I assume it would be quite worse with it open and the flaps like that.

For now may be I can try to cover the hole up. But it is awkward. The iso is right below it and also the opening is not a slit, its at an angle and its actually T shaped (going along the sides at the front.)
