We have been working as quickly as we can to find the best solution, but supply chain changes are slow. I’m sorry if our progress feels frustratingly stagnant, and we hoped for a faster turnaround ourselves, but please know that we’re actively working on this.
I feel “lucky” when reading this thread as I have yet to have contamination issues with these bags, I still disprove of them, especially the current version as it does require more care than the jugs. The current version of the bags are flimsy compared to the first version of the bags.
What I found works for me is a V cut in the top side of the bag, This helps prevent the bag from flopping over from the weight of the powder during the pour.
Another thing that greatly helps is having the “Glovebox Addon”. Though you do not need to have the hardware to use this feature when filling the hopper.
This mode turns off the ventilation fan. Having this fan off allow you to save your powder from being pulled away from the funnel as well as limiting in airborne contaminants from getting sucked towards the powder.
What kind of extra-engineering needs so much time to solve such a simple issue?
Maybe you’re checking with R&D how you could create a new issue out of nowhere? What about a shovel instead of the recoater roller in the Fuse 1+ for each new layer? That would be really annoying!
I’m sure it involves a large inventory of trash bags of powder now stocked on the shelves and the enjoyment of increased profits over the jugs that are keeping this from being resolved.
Definitely slowed down our use of the system and limited what we are willing to produce on the Fuse as we lean back into CNC’ing our larger components in aluminum and our clients opting for injection molding a lot sooner with even lower volume considerations for production parts before opting for an injection mold… it was already very niche in its use cases and now it just isn’t worth the gamble over most other manufacturing methods.
Cost of powder and the increased chances of flaws in parts has turned this into more of a prototyping machine and/or maybe the term they love to use…an “aerospace and defense” priced option $$$
I’m over these terrible bags. The built-in spout is a total joke. I have discovered that using scissors to cut off the corner opposite the build in spout works pretty well. At least I am not spilling virgin powder all over the top of the Sifter. There is no reason they can’t bring the bottles back if other powders are still being sold that way. MikeR.
Hi @Edouardh . We are making progress on the project, but aren’t at the point where we can share any details yet.
Related to this, if you or anyone else in this thread received the email invite to complete our SLS survey, I strongly recommend taking the time to fill it out. Our surveys are an incredibly valuable guiding light that helps us learn, evolve, and improve to make your experience better.
What is the point of filling a survey if you’re obviously not taking our opinions into account anyway?
This situation, which has been going on for a loooooooong time, is extremely frustrating because it should be such a simple and easy fix but Formlabs doesn’t want to acknowledge client’s feedbacks.
