Sunsetting IBT Resin (V1)

Hello everyone!

I just wanted to provide an update on our IBT Resin (V1)!

IBT Resin (V1) will no longer be available for direct purchase beginning on Friday, June 7, 2024. We recommend switching to IBT Flex Resin.

IBT Flex Resin is a Class I biocompatible material with enhanced flexibility, strength, translucency, and color to guarantee optimal clinical outcomes while providing a great patient experience and for seamless and precise transfer of orthodontic brackets and restorative composite materials. 3D print flexible and tear-resistant translucent trays and guides that save you time and deliver consistent, predictable outcomes.

If you have any questions at all about these materials or if this transition presents any particular issues for your workflow, please let me know and I’d be happy to connect you with the right resources.

Hello!! Greetings from Mexico!

I’m a dentist and I’ve been using Formlabs environment for almost 2 years now… I have a Forms 3b and a 3b+. And it’s been great.

But now I have an issue. I’ve been trying to print with IBT resin and just found out that it has been out of the market for over a year… my printer is giving me an alert that the firmware does not support the resin, and it should be updated… Obviously, my printer’s firmware is up-to-date… So my question is… Can I “downgrade” one of my printer’s firmware to make it work with IBT resin, just long enough to finish the resin cartridge? And if so… which firmware version should I use?

Looking forward to hear from you!… Thank you very much!!

Hi gabosr, thanks for reaching out! Yes, it’s possible to install an older firmware version on your printer, through the firmware update option in PreForm. You can find more information here, while firmware versions can be looked up here.
However, please be aware that the cartridge of IBT Resin is most likely expired and therefore poses a risk of print errors, so you would proceed at your own risk. Our recommendation remains to switch to IBT Flex Resin, which is still available and supported.
I hope this helps!
