Shore Hardness of Resin?

Hello Everyone,

I checked out the material properties sheet, but I couldn’t figure out where the resin’s “shore hardness” value is, like between 66 to 80 or so. I asked because I have an 8" buffing wheel and I’m trying to order some compounds that i can use to buff & polish my rapid prototype projects.

Thanks!

I don’t believe we have a laboratory measurments but from my rough measurments taken just now, I measured the hardness from Shore 76D to Shore 86D for a post-cured part.

@Adam I know this is a 11 years old topic, but for which resin did you measure this hardness??

Which resin do you need? Most resins fall between 75-90D shore hardness. Some of them have their shore hardness listed in the Technical Data Sheet, you can find that here: https://formlabs.com/materials/data-sheets/?srsltid=AfmBOooyH3Np1CfZb9BdR3-Ny1OhBD1mQrBYB315KhvtrIA4fuCbWxGm

Well the resins that I need the most are Standard Grey, High Temp, Rigid 10K and Durable. To be honest I have all of these resins data sheets and no one of them has the hardness listed. (At least I didn’t find hahaha)

This is not official data, but here are some rough numbers for each of those resins. These are printed on a Form 4, and post cured to Formlabs specs.

  • Grey 80D
  • High Temp 88D
  • Durable 70D
  • Rigid 10K 89D

Thank you @dominicbarry, I found a paper where a researcher measure 90D for Rigid 10K, so even if these numbers aren’t official, they are matching.

It would be nice to have this info in the data sheet, thank you for your attention.
