Does anyone know of a Formlabs resin that has similar material properties as polycarbonate. The high temp resin has the closet ultimate tensile strength from what I can see but the other properties are not as close as I would like.
Hi @Damion thanks for your question!
Your best best for a polycarbonate-like material is Tough 2000, as it likely has the winning combo of Tensile Strength and Elongation.
Tough 2000
Tensile Strength: 46 MPa
Elongation Break: 48%
If you don’t already know this resource check out our Materials Library. Your one-stop shop for technical material data. I also personally like this dynamic Material Comparison Tool, where you can compare 3 materials at a time.
Others to consider:
Grey v5 - Much stronger but much stiffer.
Tensile Strength: 62 MPa
Elongation Break: 13%
Tough 1500 Quite a bit softer with similar elongation
Tensile Strength: 33 MPa
Elongation Break: 51%
If heat deflection is important:
High temp: Very stiff
Tensile Strength: 49 MPa
Elongation Break: 2.3%
Rigid 10K Higher tensile strength but much stiffer like V5 (great weight and feel in the hand)
Tensile Strength: 88 MPa
Elongation Break: 13%
Hope this helps!
Thank you.
