Does Form ever have plan on having the option to stack prints to maximize printing through the whole volume and not just the build plate XY? Or is this only possible with importing from a 3rd party support design?
Thanks for the question!
Generally, we don’t have plans to develop this feature because of concerns regarding dimensional accuracy and print reliability. But it’s always extremely useful for us to understand which features our users are requesting and why. Could you please detail your use case in a feature request in PreForm? You can do this via the Feedback button within PreForm.
Thank you in advance!
thanks for the response, I will do that at my next print.
Why would there be concerns with accuracy or print reliability? how would it be different than any other print that is on a raft with supports?
I totally agree with you, this would be an awesome feature, for example to print during the weekend. I also agree that there are challenges with accuracy but just as you said, there are 3rd party softwares that already do this.
@as4399 The difference would be that a stacked model would be farther away from the build platform than a regular print on supports. The farther away from the build platform you get, the higher the risk of layer shifting and deviation of dimensional accuracy.
Some Formlings have experimented with stacking models, but for official features, our standards for reliability and accuracy are pretty high, and stacked models did not pass our validation.
