Im looking to see if anyone that has a Fuse1+ for over a year has any input on its maintenance routine and replacement parts. I am in the process of getting sample parts and leaning towards it but I want to know how it is to operate from an overhead perspective.
Manage to get the OMM, and if possible hold it until 2027. If you have the OMM you can save by using Chinese materials priced at half the price the original with no noticable performance and quality difference.
What’s happening in 2027?
Formlabs is supposed to present 3 more platforms.
I had a dream about a fuse t or v in the range of 200+mm XY, RFID cards still in place and something else users were complaining about but can’t remember haha ![]()
But for real the 3 platforms are a fact. So if I was about to spend a little over $50,000 USD I will wait at least until this 2026 ends to see if something pops up
You will want a stock of build chamber gaskets/seals; these should be replaced every 1000 hours IIRC. The build chamber lead screw should also be lubricated at the same interval. Apart from that, the recommended cleaning agents and pec pads are my regular consumables tied to maintenance. Hepa filters are every 2400 hours so those are not as urgent to keep on hand. Ive had some parts go down here and there; one tied to an assembly issue that Formlabs remedied under warranty. Ive not had trouble getting parts when needed. My second machine has run like clockwork. They do seem to make improvements on these machines from run to run, based on my limited observation.
I have had 2 issues with mine since getting last February. I am using Nylon12 GF and back in late
June I needed more material because I ran out making adjustments to my machine. It took 3 weeks to get it, with no notice it was backordered. I found out afterwards the machine was never properly setup from new. Good luck
I found out afterwards the machine was never properly setup from new.
Hi, do you mean your machine was not setup correctly or Fuse 1+ is not setup for Nylon12 GF?
It was not tuned properly for Nylon12 GF. The machine was installed and setup per Formlabs instructions.
They are never properly tuned not even for Standard PA12 ![]()
I performed a bed test and submitted it per Formlabs. The told me to make an adjustment. After 4 months of complaining about poor quality and part failure , I am told by TRIMECH and Formlabs that Nylon 12 GF requires a lot of adjusting to work properly. Wish someone had said something sooner. I have to wonder if it require adjusting again in the near future.
@Mallen Thank you for sharing, the missing information about bed temperature tuning was an oversight in our documentation. We have updated our support guide on using Nylon 12 GF Powder!
I notice that you didn’t have a a comment about not having material available. How often does this happen and why wasn’t I notified?
@Mallen material shortages are something we try extremely hard to prevent and limit. Being a core part of our business (Not much value in users running our hardware if they can’t get hands on materials for them). June we ran into an unusual hurdle with our supply chain and it left you and many other users in a longer than intended lead time. This was a combination of a large spike in demand, and difficulties in getting raw material to replenish it.
To help resolve this issue we have since added additional warehouses to our network to allow us to store more material as well as use this to help reduce shipping time by having warehouses closer to the end users. We have also just deployed in July a new set of tools to help improve communication with users about lead times and availabilities (you may have noticed the website change last month).
It’s still a currently ongoing process that we don’t expect to have resolved until the first week of September but our entire supply team has been heads down working on this.
That doesn’t explain why I wasn’t told that when I ordered the material.
They are pushing so hard users to look for options, and someone will definitely will solve the RFID cards sooner or later. If you can’t supply materials on time at least let users buy them where they want and use the hardware they already paid for.
And how incorrect products sent overseas is being solved?
Received today and confirmed that a full batch is in this condition…
PM’d you, but as you can guess that isn’t intended. We will get it resolved for you though. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.
These things happen, which is why I always check every box in the bulk orders as soon as they arrive. So far I’ve not encountered this.
Good thing when you deal directly, but this bag passed the Original inspection at FL, then the resellers, and it was delivered to me like this. Paying powder at almost $1500 USD makes it a little bit more difficult to order 100 kg.
But I’ve just ordered from my OEM and it will be around $8,000 USD for 100 PA12 powder arriving at my door.
If I choose FL, it will be $15,000 USD I can buy a lot of things with $7000 USD like a F4 which I’m closing this week.
Being out of the only material we use to produce parts is a huge deal. We can’t go a month without making parts. I will not make this mistake again. We will find another source.
