We are in the process of choosing a new printer. We need a large build volume, reliability, decent quality, and a variety of materials. Is it true that Form 4L cannot print finer layer height than 0.05mm (grey resin)?
We are trying to eradicate extensive priming and sanding procedures, we are aware we will still need to remove and sand down support marks. We are fine with sacrificing print speed.
Hi @1738, you can see our resin print settings roadmap in the matrix here. It seems that as of today, there are plans to develop and release 0.025mm print settings for Black, Clear, Grey, and Precision Model Resin on Form 4L. As we develop these settings and evaluate the next ones to do, they will be updated in that matrix. Ones marked with an “x” indicates that there are no plans to develop or validate settings for the combination of the printer and resin.
Thank you, I didn’t know you had your roadmap easily accessible.
What about silicone? I saw you have no plans to introduce silicone to form 4 L. Is there a reason not to do so?
No, there are no current plans to introduce Silicone 40A to Form 4L. The larger and heavier a model is, the more difficult it is to print with a soft elastomer. If you have a strong use-case for it, please let me know and I will be happy to pass the feedback on to our materials team.
I’m part of an art department team, we focus on TV commercials where the deadlines are much shorter than in movie industry.
We were hoping we could get around creating master molds, degassing silicone and all that by printing silicone props. Last use case was from 2 weeks ago where we were asked to create a silicone baking trays for food styling team- they needed heat resistance, flexibility, quick prototyping based on client’s preferences.
Any suggestions using existing materials and Form 4L?
I’ll pass on the feedback! We have two non-silicone materials, Elastic 50A and Flexible 80A. I’m not sure how well they would work for your specific application since it would depend on the model and workflow, but it might be worth exploring! Let me know if you’d like to be connected to someone on our sales team that can explore this with you!
