Halloween Prints

Here are a few shots of some holiday inspired printing:

Ghost Toy: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4421

Devils Skull:  http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:58592

For the lighting, I use SK Part Strobe Light on an iPad 1, and choose a slow fade between two colors that I like.  Then I put a piece of construction paper over the screen, with a small hole in the center to let the light through.

Then, I take the photo in the dark, with a 10-30" shutter time.

In the third photo, you can see a three part Skull Mold ( http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:48134 )

I had problems getting the part out of the mold, so it’s in the freezer at the moment.  I’ll report back on that one later.

Ok, the mold came out the freezer, and the clay was firm enough to pull from the mold

Wow! Very cool, Ray. These are awesome. Great photography too.

Thanks, Sam!  We’re looking forward to more holiday projects!

here’s my first Halloween print - I “remixed” Matthew Gorton’s (Printed_Solid) Grumpy Pumpkin from Thingyverse (itself a mod of Steve Cambells grumpkin also on Thingyverse.

I hollowed it out and added custom internal supports for the face so it could be printed without external supports. Unfortunately I’m not quite the Solidworks guru I want to be yet and I couldn’t get Solidworks to merge the internal supports properly - so the final STL is a bit munted - but PreForm was able to make it printable. You can download the Solidworks part and STL here  http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:174745

I’m still working on the top.
