Form 3 Dental: Thin Canal Troubleshooting

Hi everyone,

I’m printing dental teeth models on a Formlabs 3 with these settings:

  • Layer height: 0.025 mm
  • Model tilted: 20 degrees
  • Preserve Fine Features: Enabled
  • Canal: 0.3 mm coronal opening, 0.2 mm apical exit

The outer shape prints perfectly, but the canal is completely solid/closed — it doesn’t appear at all.

Has anyone successfully printed canals this thin? What resin, orientation, or settings worked for you?

Thank you!

The printer specifications mention a minimum hole diameter of 0.5 mm. Since your canal is 0.2–0.3 mm, it is below the specified minimum, which is likely why it is closing up completely during printing.

I am attaching the entire article for your reference - Design specifications for 3D models (Form 3/Form 3B) | Formlabs

Hope this helps.
