Best way to orient dental splint for printing

Piaa, can you compare your post-curing process to how yoderkl is post-curing? Most yellowing is due to the post-cure when there isn’t complete print-cure (or dual initiators). Dreve (the company that makes Erkoform, etc.) also supplies a splint resin that is specified to cure at wavelengths between 385-405. I don’t know if it is the same as NextDent but white labeled, or original to them. I also don’t know how to get that resin in the U.S.

How are you designing the splints?

Are you using Open Mode to avoid having to pour the NextDent into an empty SG cartridge?

I have 3Shape Ortho, Dental Premium, and the conversion (I guess no longer needed), but I would like to design a specific splint without having to buy appliance designer. Is there a way to learn the process you are using? My design is different, but I think it is close enough for the sequencing to work. Thank you.

The printing with ortho clear has been separated from the start with a new tray and it has been yelllow from the start. Thinking about the post-cure. At the moment we are using 9W elements. maybe better with UV-led?

The splints is designing in 3shape. The design comes out really nice, but the color is not good :frowning:

We are using open mode as suggested. The prints is super, but the look is not really good :frowning: The yellow toning looks like it is an old splint :frowning:

What equipment do you use for postcuring? I think it is a possible problem (9V elements or LED)?

More progress on the occlusal guard module. I may make a separate thread but this thread seems to have all the occlusal guard info.

Hi folks
I’m interested in purchasing a 3D printer, and the Form 2 seems a very good unit for the price.
I’m a dentist (implants and perio) and have absolutely no experience in 3D printing. Seems like I have a lot to learn.
Could you guys give me some hints for what should I do and, especially, what shouldn’t I do on my initiation on this subject?
I’m interested mainly on printing surgical guides and occlusal guards. What software would you recommend?
thanks

The Dental Industry page is a great place to get started  That will give an overview of materials and accuracy and also includes resources for starting out towards the bottom. Both of the White Papers should prove helpful for getting started.

We use 3shape for making models and exocad for making nightguards. So far we are happy with the Dental LT Clear material. We’ve had issues with shrinkage and loose dies with the Dental Model material, but overall we are very happy with our Form 2.

Good luck.

Have you compared with fresh Fluorescent bulbs following the earlier FL recommendations? The resin has 2 photo initiators, maybe your light is more in the spectrum of the one that tends to yellow more??

We use CUREbox for our lightcure at the recommended settings.
