Launched my site www.bareteeth.com where I sell home made 3d prints. I do everything from ideation, modeling, printing, painting, shipping and I thought I’d post it here because a huge backbone of it is my Formlabs 4L + wash/cure system. I have a room dedicated to that stuff, plus prep/cleaning + a spray paint booth all with multiple ventalations and filters running.
I have multiple layers on the floor and lots of protection stuff but hey goop gets around. Learning to get better at this as time goes on, but it’s not the easiest nicest thing as resin printers know. The results are rad. I swear it never gets old seeing digital art work printed out in real life.
The other room where I do fine painting has Prusa MK3 and an XL and a new Bambu H2C. There is an old Form 2 sitting around I haven’t run in quite a few years now and don’t intend to.
Here is a photo of my 4L setup. I have 2 filters running (and a charcoal one I’m too lazy to set up yet) + several ventilation fans I can turn on that vent outside.
I’m a fan of the Tough 1500 V2! I think its insane stuff but also I’d love to see the prices drop on it. If I could get that stuff for 100! May be in the future. I don’t really know the stability and long term of 1500 V2 though either. How it fairs in the sun. But wow is it magical stuff.
Looking forward to the future of cheaper longer lasting more durable resins. Heat resistant, lower creep, and longer archival properties.
Yes Formlabs offer bulk pricing for high consuming users
Got it, stratasys is proprietary and you can run any filament, FL says the same proprietary thing about PA12 powder and it runs without issues with Chinese powder, any resin will work in the 4/4L the only issue for now are cartridges.
If you got the Open Material License for the 4L it wouldn’t void anything We love running Loctite Materials along with Formlabs only downside is you have to manually add the material.
You will have to look up the specific type you are looking got on the Loctite 3D site they generally cost the same I know you can buy bulk sizes of the materials but you will have to look into that we work a lot with Loctite working through settings and assisting them when they ask so we’ve used quite a bit of their materials The IND 249 is a lot like your tough materials Its my personal favorite.
If you want cheaper material then I recommend going with something like eSun but you will most likely have to figure out the settings for each materials and you get what you pay for.
We have a different tray for each resin we only clean our trays when we change to a different version.
