3rd party resins and resin mixes

That’s a pretty bold statement. Did you do any other prints beforehand, or were those 2 prints the first in that tank?

I can also confirm that the Madesolid resin left marks on the PDMS only after 1 print. Although the marks don’t seem to affect the prints, I don’t really know how much they affect the print quality. I was using the black resin, but now that formlabs has it’s own black resin, I will not be using this resin anymore. For me the savings are not worth the damaged resin tanks.

I’ve got some FL gray to go through, but now I’m scared to use the left over resin I have. Though, I guess if it did do actual damage, that would be a good reason to get one of their new tanks

the best experience was mix B9 cherry with clear formlabs, thanks to Monger Designs, also makerJuice. very sloppy (for me) i wold not recommend to no one.Now waiting for black formlabs i hope it’s enough resolution for jewelers. here some prints with B9 cherry and clear formlabs. rings print on setting 0.5 and big items 1.0

Those are very nice Mikhail. Did you cast that Buddha?

No i did not cast any of this, it.s not enough resolution for my work i still use my friend machine  with the wax models. I hope one day we can cast. our work. Thank You Monger. you the best on a forum.

Mikhail buryakov, can you explain you more about the makerjuice resin ? What do you mean by sloppy ?

i will try to make picture ,you will see a difference. all small prongs missing.

Oh yes … it’s seems really blurry … Can i ask if it’s possible for you to take a picture ( if you have of course ) of the green (makerjuice) and the same ring with the formlabs resin. I wan’t to know if it’s also oversized. Thanks

Hey Eric Donelson,

Any updates on the MadeSolid performance? Others had reported poor results : From Monger Design  “I can also confirm that the Madesolid resin left marks on the PDMS only after 1 print”. Has this improved with the new formula?

Thanks

Hi guys!

What about this one?

Still just using Formlabs resin and the B9 cherry mix, but noticed MadeSolid now has something called tough resin

Hi there,
someone used the Spot-HT resins and found a good way to wash them?
after the printing they are always a bit sticky also if I wash them in isopropyl and/or water.

Has anyone tried MadeSolid’s FireCast resin with their Form1 or Form1+ ? If so, what was your experience with it? Did it print with good detail? Did it burn out cleanly? I’d love to know before spending that much money to try it.

I have printed with MadeSolid’s new Vorex resin and have had very good prints with it. The detail is very good as well as the brittleness. The ciost is a little higher though.

is great to know about to make the supports in rhino, i think that the supports of the freeform are more thicker than the necessary, how will be the minimum base thickness, that you experience and works good ?
thanks.

greetings

Hey everyone!

Not sure why this thread died. Looking at all these trial runs of various resins, I’ve been feeling there should be a standard set of prints for evaluating resin characteristics. Obviously there’s the Eiffel tower:

And the rook:

But I’ve also noticed that MadeSolid has a chip file that they always print in order to evaluate their resins:

Has anyone come across an .STL for this sort of print? What do others use as “standards” across the resin ecosystem for print evaluation? Help please!

Hi there! Are Makerjuice and Spot-A compatible with Form1+ right?

Spot-A ruined my tank, but that was over a year ago, haven’t tried it since.

Makerjuice works, but needs less exposure time which means you can’t get as sharp of details as what you get with the Formlabs resin.
