Ultrasonic Cleaning with Formlabs Resin – Internal Thread Challenges
Has anyone here used an ultrasonic cleaner in combination with the Formlabs cleaning solution?
We’re printing parts with fine-pitch internal threads and consistently run into issues cleaning uncured resin from the V-groove geometry. This residual resin often causes interference when mating with external threads, which are comparatively easier to clean.
We’re considering ultrasonic cleaning to improve resin removal in these tight geometries. If you’ve tried this setup—or have alternative methods that work well for internal threads—I’d really appreciate your insights.
Thanks for the reply. I did use the search but didn’t scroll down far enough to see the other responses, my bad.
We only have a Wash V1 which doesn’t do a very good job or removing resin from small internal threads (fine for all other prints though). Maybe the Wash V2 would be better in this regard? But the cost is prohibitive at $1400 and an ultrasonic washer is only a couple of hundred dollars.
I feel removing resin from threaded holes (smaller than M10) especially blind ones is a very specific case that requires a special workflow?
The wash solution cannot flow through or around the features so this is where I was hoping the ultrasonics might work.
