Thoughts on Carbon3d 3D printer

OR - If the tank bottom was a structural grid, (like a screen extruded in the Z direction), then the ‘sag’ would only be across the dimension of the grid unit. This would theoretically allow any overall dimension across the tank surface.

Exactly.

Here is a link to the Ted Talk of the CLIP device (the Carbon3D printer) Not much info that we don’t already have, but there is some. It also seems to clarify the layer-less quality they claim.

I hope they focus on businesses or at least a high enough price point that they aren’t trying to save a buck or two on cheap components and really focus on quality and longevity.

If its $20k that’s ok with me - still cheaper than dimension elite or similar. Why cheaper than a production machine.

I think the O2 membrane of Carbon3D was created by using a nanocoating layer which provides O2 to the resin that inhibits solidifying the lower layer of the resin and makes it not stick able to the base of the tank. In facts, the resin will float on top of the nanocoating surface and will flow easily underneath the cured resin but this should be in less viscosity.

No. Read somewhere that they pump oxygen through a teflon sheet. So…no coating.
