@gdmccormack yea I was thinking a fan would probably be required with that much power and in a somewhat sealed enclosure. The internal area of the enclosure measures 24" L x 12" W x 12" H so this should allow me plenty of space to place big prints or multiple prints in a single cure session. Once I get finished making the enclosure I plan on uploading drawings and model files if anyone wants them.
I am re-purposing a towel sterilizing cabinet and have replaced the 8 watt bulb with a 20 watt, 405nm UV LED array mounted in the top. I put my printed parts in a clear glass dish covered with hot water. Cure time for a 15ml part is less than 3 minutes! Make sure you remove the supports before curing.
@dbhawkins I currently have one of those UV sterilizing cabinets as well with an 8w UV blub. Obviously itās underpowered but it got the job done with the standard materials. Not so much when using the Tough material though as I had to leave parts in there for over 24 hours to get a cure. I considered upgrading it to use a more powerful UV LED but I wanted something that would allow me to place many parts or large parts as well. We also have a 1800w UV chamber but itās way too powerful and can easily warp parts if left in there for more than a few minutes. Itās Xenon gas so the spectrum isnāt as high or narrow as the UV LEDs can achieve unfortunately. So my parts basically end up warping due to the heat but not curing as well due to the lower wavelength. This is where my DIY cabinet comes into play as I can just make exactly what I need rather than try to retrofit something else.
I used to remove my supports before curing but Iāve found that some parts can sag if there is a large overhang, so thatās why I now keep my supports on during the cure. Sanding the little nub of material down post cure isnāt a big deal for me so I donāt mind doing it. Also tends to give me better looking parts because Iām not handling the print while itās not cured by cutting the supports away.
