Powder Bag Demonstration

its only if you call them to order supplies is what i understood if your ordering from the website no issue

that wasnt my understanding from the email.

If youre ordering direct from formlabs, no fee.

If youre trying to support small businesses that provide local support for your machines, its a fess for purchases under $2500.

Makes me want to order machines from other manufacturers through my local support company, instead of ordering $60k worth of product directly from formlabs, which was still prepped and delivered by my local support company.

we only ever order stuff through formlabs web site if we want other resins we get it from those companies weve never order formlabs stuff through a third party

Hi all! Just wanted to pass along our video demonstration for using the SLS powder bags with your Fuse 1 generation setups. Hopefully, it can clarify some different techniques that you can use to most easily refill your Fuse Sifts.

This video covers everything from adding powder credits, installing the funnel, two different pouring techniques, and a note on storage. I hope it helps!

Do you really consider this as a user friendly solution? There is so much powder spill and storing the bag is a mess…

Why are you so stubborn about not bringing the jugs back despite your clients asking for it?

i found a solution.

Cat litter jugs. These plastic containers are about twice the volumne of the formlabs containers, have a wider mouth and are easily cleaned for storing powder.

I cant imagine trying to put recycled powder back into a bag when i have to do a material change on the sift. The old jugs worked fine and i will keep reusing them but the larger cat litter jugs are better in every way.

There is no reasonable justification for switching to bag that are larger than the hopper other than saving a few pennies on plastic jugs. Profit > User experience.

I literally just had a scare this morning…opening my Sift Fresh Hopper “trash bag grate”…I noticed a small 1/4" size piece of foil “balancing on the plastic grate”!

Must have been from my last fill up which is crazy because we been super careful now with how we cut these bags before pouring…

I got the vacuum n quickly sucked it up before it fell into the hopper.

These bags are trash…I don’t care what the reasoning this is a huge hit to this system.

I´ve seen foil come loose from the jugs aswell. Luckily i´ve managed to catch them before they end up in the printer.

If you are seeing foil come from the jugs…then you were like me before i figured out that if you flip the lid around it doubles as a foil cutter…versus “popping the foil or cutting it”… once you use the lid to clean cut the foil seal there is no way for foil to get into the hopper…as there is literally no foil left on the jug other than the tight ring around the spout…

i´ve always used the cutter on the lid. Never once used anything else cause i´ve always suspected that would be a disaster. And yes small fragments can come loose from the ring of the jug.

Knowing that we are all pissed and tired about this change, which had an important impact on the Fuse ecosystem, why doesn’’t Formlabs just acknowledge the situation and take the right actions?

Apple rolled back aluminium for the new iPhones after promoting titanium because they admitted it was not the best technical decision. I think that Formlabs could do the same with the plastic jugs and they will only be stronger!

they dont care about us, they only care about profit margins.

Like selling a $400 vacuum for $1200

exactly. They don´t care since they are not affected by the issue on a daily basis. And more money is good money.
