# New Firmware makes the printer hang

I updated the firmware on the Form2 and updated preform to v2.18.0 and now my printer hangs on the first layer. It just sits there and does nothing. I’ve only had this printer for 18 months.

Also note that the first layer can take a while, even if it appears nothing is happening. I’d wait several minutes, if it’s over an hour then there’s definitely something to check out further.
