Lines on spherical Surface

Hi there,

I got a question, after I take out prints with more or less spherical surfaces, weird lines appear on them. they seem not related to the exported file, but rather to import issues? Can someone help me. The print direction is vertical, as you see int he image, which should actually works against this problem, but it doesnt.

Thanks!

Have you tried printing flat on the bed? Are the two faces parallel or convex/concave at all?

Hi there surface are parallel to each other, so one is convex, the other one concave.

And the lines appear independently from printing orientation.

@SMtnes The lines you are seeing are from the layers being created. Each layer is slightly smaller, leaving a “ridge”. This image shows what’s happening a lot better.

You can always open a support case with us to explore this further.

Hi, thanks for the reply, but that is not really the solution to my question. If you have a look for the printing orientation image, those layers appear on a vertical plane if you use your example. I see those layers additionally to the problem I explained. So, I got layer lines and extra lines I cannot explain which I mentioned.

I can see in the file that there are faces that are not smooth. Those can show up while printing.

Yes thats true, and if you see this image which I posted those lines appear additionally, due to the reduced export quality. (blue dots and text indicate those mentioned rings)

The green ones are those which should not appear as I printed that glass upwards.

I see you opened a support case, and I’ve reviewed your file and confirmed you’re printing on a Form 4. I’m sure your support agent on the case will get to the bottom of it, but I think it would be good if you shared here once it’s come to a conclusion so that information is widely known.
