I hardly ever need a hole perpendicular to a face. I usually need the hole cut straight through the part - so if I switch to TOP VIEW and use the hole tool, I want the option for the hole to be perpendicular to the view plane, ie it cuts straight down.

I’m afraid that at this moment you can’t do that (as much as some of us here want that).
Currently you will need to open that part in whatever CAD software you are using and then place a hole that way.
Hopefully in a future Preform update they’ll put a switch for the holes that allows us to change from ‘perpendicular to plane’ and ‘perpendicular to face’. If we’re lucky, while they’re at it they’ll also allow us to do multiple holes at once.

Yeah. Just a bit annoying as a workflow. I’ll often FDM print a part then quickly decide to resin print as well and then need some holes for venting / cupping etc. Be nice if this was built in.
