Ceramic Resin attacking tank cover?

Hi,
after a near-spill I temporarily stored a tank with Ceramic Resin, filled nearly to the brim. After taking it out of storage today, I noticed the plastic tank cover was severely cracked on several edges, where the resin contacted the cover. My guess would be that the resin base somehow attacks the plastic used for the cover (polystyrene?), as it seems to be quite different chemically to the other resins. Sorry, no images, as the forum software tells me the file is too big (even though it is ~1.2 MB and the limit is 7 MB?)
